There's nothing traditional about popular brand Apothic Wines! Inspired by 'Apotheca', a mysterious place where wine was blended and stored in 13th century Europe, they offer unique blends of Californian grapes, fusing Old World intrigue with modern sophistication. Using Zinfandel, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from selected vineyards in the state's Central Valley, the resultant wines show intense fruit character, rich flavours and soft tannins.
The company's first varietal wine, Apothic Cab, is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon. Recent figures show that Cabernet Sauvignon is the second most popular grape varietal in the premium red wine market in the UK. It's also the fifth most popular varietal overall in the country. So, this latest Apothic wine looks set to attract both new consumers and loyal fans of its brand.
Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Zinfandel, 8% other red grapes.
The Apothic winemaking team carefully selected the Cabernet grapes with the most intense fruit profile and the softest, plushest tannins, complemented by jammy Zinfandel. Most of the grapes were sourced from Lodi and the balance was from parent company E.&J. Gallo's Ripperdan Ranch vineyards.
