Award-winning Northern Ireland independent wine merchant JN Wine has launched a new Provencal rosé, 'Ode To Joy'.
The wine is named after Beethoven's symphony, which was written to celebrate the end of war and desperation. All profits will go to Youth Action NI's Rainbow Factory of Performing Arts which has been significantly affected during lockdown.
The drama school's 'Rainbow Lights' project aids young people with mental and physical disabilities, allowing them to reengage and have fun. So, with profits from the sale of the wine buying much needed sensory equipment, this initiative should help nurture their confidence.
Ode to Joy 2020 is an organic, vegan wine, produced at Château Vignelaure and adorned with a label from a painting by top Irish artist Kathryn Callaghan. It's a light-bodied Côteaux D'Aix En Provence rosé, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. ABV is 12.5%.
Appearance: Light orangey pink.
Nose: Red berries 🍓 with a touch of peach melba, a hint of rose petal florality 🌹 and a breezy freshness.
Palate: Light and expressive with notes of juicy raspberry and strawberry initially 🍓, then redcurrant and peach 🍑 come through with good acidity, a hint of herbs 🌿 and a mineral cleanness on the finish.
Food pairing: Good for drinking on its own, it will also pair well with light seafood dishes 🦐, fish 🐟 and Mediterranean salads 🥗.
You can buy the wine from JN Wine's website shop for £13.50 per 75cl bottle, £76 for a case of 6 or £140 for a case of 12. Magnums are £31 each. Cases of the standard size bottles can also be bought with a signed, numbered print of the Ode to Joy Firework by Kathryn Callaghan.
