Founded in 1982, Jackson Family Wines is a collection of premium wineries owned privately by Barbara Banke and the Jackson family. Over many years, they have assembled a portfolio of esteemed vineyards and wineries along California's cool coastal ridges from Santa Barbara up through Monterey, Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties, as well as into Oregon's renowned Willamette Valley. Additionally, the company owns estates in St. Emilion, Tuscany, McLaren Vale and Chile. Each winery has its own winemaker, vineyards, varietal focus and unique style which showcase the particular terroir of its location. Above all, the Banke-Jackson family pride themselves on the quality of their wines, their stewardship of the land, their commitment to sustainable practices and their long-term distribution and wine community partnerships around the world.
Kendall-Jackson was voted 'American Winery of the Year' in January by Wine Enthusiast and their most popular offering is Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay, America's top-selling Chardonnay for the past 25 years! The grapes come from California's cooler climate coastal vineyards in Monterey, Santa Barbara, Mendocino and Sonoma and the wine is aged for at least five months on its lees with monthly bâtonnage in mostly used French and American oak barrels.
Visually attractive with a sparkling bright, light gold colour, the nose immediately offers a mix of ripe orchard and tropical fruit, butter, toasted nuts, honey and vanilla. The palate is rich with juicy mango, papaya, peach and apple plus nuts and vanilla. Toasty, buttery notes continue through the mid-palate, while the finish is long with a refreshing touch of grapefruit and a hint of black tea and spice. This wine always feels fresh and never heavy with a good balance of acidity and creamy richness. Food-friendly, it will pair particularly well with fish, chicken or veal dishes in a creamy sauce.
The wine, awarded 91 points by Wine Enthusiast, is available in the UK from the following stockists: Mumbles Fine Wines, Hailsham Cellars, 99 Wines, Roberts and Speight, Bacchanalia, The Grape to Glass, The Wine Chambers, Shenfield Wine, Hoults, Latitude.
